a lot of these houses are old... seeking out and sealing the cracks can make a big difference
also, waterbugs (a nice euphemism for cockroaches) can be dealt with very effectively by a good exterminator or even a nice pile of roach baits

Well just to update...Went to Home Depot and bought one of those thingies you plug in that send out the annoying "keep away bugs!" noise and its been working for the most part!
Also bought some bug spray to put around window perimeters, etc. I have still found a few critters but I reccomend the plug in thang. Need to get more for the rest of the house too b/c i think that some are migrating downward to stay away from the "noise". Ow. |

I know this sounds weird, but if you put bounce dryer sheets in or around the areas that you see the bugs, especially ants, it will repell them

Actually I have been spraying Pledge and that worked for a while, too. But now, since I got that bug-plug in thing, it did work. But this past week the baby spiders are back. Its getting to be frustrating! Guess I need to call the exterminator again.

It's an inert powder, made from diatoms- little tiny algae that build snowflake and star shaped shells around themselves. The diatom shells are basically like fluffy silicon snow- they form a tight mesh or sieve, and so the the crystals are used in swimming pool filters- The tiny silica snowflakes are razor sharp but so TINY that they don't do anything to skin the skin is soft and bends around the little snowflakes- but they are bad news for insects with hard exoskelators. The points get stuck in the hard exoskelaton and can cut through it. End result is no insects Hal |

I always heard that if you have spiders, you won't have roaches. Don't know if it's true or not.

Well the bugs do sparkle I admit.
I had a busload of waterbugs when I first moved in. The exterminator's spray helped out alot to get rid of them. Now I only see them once in a while and they are dead when I do see them. Mostly I see baby spiders and thier mommas and daddies. I also have Daddy Long legs that live in my basement. Now I've told those guys to stay in the basement and I wont kill you. But the other morning, there was a web in my first floor, and in the web was a dead water bug and the daddy long legs. So, he died. Oh Well. I'll try the new suggestion and see how that goes! I think I just need to put it at every place the floor meets the walls. |
