Rats. I have plans tonight, Brooke.
JB's did get a healthy economic boost from me last night, though. I had nearly forgotten the odd effects of Long Island Iced Tea :rolling_: Hope we can do another "meet n' greet" there soon. I'm sure I can round up few assorted nuts from this end of the hood. |

This all proves what I said at the FNA meeting last night.
We need more AA groups in our neighborhood. ;-)

Yes, turns out that Nodding Head owner was sent a letter by that wonderful old out of touch coot Marie Lederer, prompted by 100-200 church goers' signatures against Nodding Head opening up here, saying that "Fishtown residents" do not want it here. Nice of them to ask the neighborhood association, the actual neighbors near the vicinity or what not. Drinkers should have voted Ballen.

For those of you who weren't at the meeting, the whole story presented at the meeting was this...
1) The folks at Nodding Head were interested in buying a property and opening up a brewpub. 2) Approx. 200 people from a nearby church signed a petition saying they didn't want it in their neighborhood, and sent that petition to Marie Lederer. 3) Lederer sent a letter to the owners of Nodding Head saying she had a petition from 200 neighbors who didn't want a brewpub in their neighborhood. 4) The Nodding Head folks decided they didn't want to be there if the neighbors didn't want them there. Complicating the matter... 5) While they may be related to the church somehow, the vast majority of the church members do not live nearby. 6) The church pastor said that he wanted to use a grant to purchase the building and make it into a rehab center. ---- N.B. I'm not saying this is a 100% accurate version of the facts. I'm saying this is my understanding of what was presented at the meeting. Also, for those who were at the meeting, please note that while this led to a passionate exchange in which I spoke out on the need for rehab opportunities and against NIMBYism, that doesn't mean I was taking sides against Nodding Head!

Yep, Dan is correct re: Nodding Head. He's graciously leaving out some details about the neighborhood reaction to the rehab, but suffice it to say that the meeting's reaction to his comments was not "pleasant".
