Default "Large & Unique Property"

Does anyone else find this property listing disconcerting?

1626 E. Berks St.

Great Oppurtunity To Own A Large And Unique Property In A Fantastic Fishtown Location! Currently, The Property Is A Funeral Home With Operating Mausoleum, But Could Easily Be Converted To A Grand Single Family Residence With One-Car Garage (Mausoleum Was Previously A One-Car Garage. Curb Is Already Cut - Just Need To Convert Front Brick Wall Back To A Garage Door). Large, Open First Floor Space With High Ceilings Would Make A Great Living/Dining Area. Property Also Features A Newer, Eat-In Kitchen, And Finished Rooms In The Basement (Currently Used As An Office And A Seperate Room For Laundry). 3 Spacious Bedrooms And 1.5 Baths On The Second Floor Make This Home Complete. There Is Also A Staircase Leading To The Roof That Would Be Ideal For A Potential Roofdeck Area. This Property Is A Spacious Home That Is In Excellent Condition. Come Take A Look At This Beauty Today!

Its Fishtown...they will put a for sale sign on a 20'x20' lot that has heavy machinery looming over it, why not a funeral home??

Yes, I'm sorry to hear the funeral home is closing.

Just a day or two after I moved to the neighborhood, I met Mr. Clark in line at Fran's deli. When he heard I had just moved in, he paid for my lunch! (I hope he didn't make a general practice of that. Given the Fishtown land rush, he'd be broke by now!)

Not really, so long as there's full disclosure about the poltergeists.

I think it would be interesting to live in a former funeral home, but then again, I'm a morbid person. Also, I would think the place would be pretty well maintained, at least in the public areas.

What's creepeier, living next to an active funeral home for x amount of years with dead people coming and and out all times of the day and night and sharing a basement wall with the "drainage" room or moving into a space that has been "defunked" and is now living space?

I just have to say the energy in a funeral home is always terrible - if the walls could talk.......ew.

If anybody is considering living there, I would think that living in a former funeral home would be the least of your worries.

What I'd be terrified of is living that close to Brooke.

This has been for sale for a while. John is a great guy--he's been a wonderful neighbor. I will be sad to see him go. It is a nice property, but I have to say that I used to be creeped out by it living on the same block as it!
