good god. KFC's are like skunks -- you can smell them from anywhere within a two mile radius.

yes, unfortunately I think that's what it's going to be. There was a community group that went to the Zoning Board hearing to try to oppose it, because KFC wants to make it a drive-thru and if anyone knows anything about the traffic at that particular bend along Girard they would know that could be a major problem, but unfortunately their zoning request was granted.

Wasn't there some public outcry when KFC announced it wanted to build there? I see to remember that the thrust of the argument was that KFCs and their ilk attract free-range reprobates...

McDonalds on one side of Girard, KFC on the other. Doubleplusyuckyuck.

Regarding traffic, just stand between the KFC and the Checkers and across the street from the gas station/McDonald's at Broad & Girard for a while and watch the dynamics.

Ya know, KFC type establishments do a LOT of homework and profiling before they break ground. I guess they concluded KFC is at home in Fishtown, and it will fulfill a distinct hole in the Phila grease chicklin market.
