Default Palmer Street Cemetery

I'm tryng to locate relatives interned in the Palmer Street Cemetery but can't find where the recordes are kept. I now live in Colorado and will be visiting Philly in June and would like to visit ancestors grave sites. I have stopped by the office building at the cemetery in the past but it was closed and no information posted.

By the way I really enjoy this web site..It brings back lots of Fishtown & Kensington memories

Northeast class of 50

Your best bet would be to contact a local funeral director, such as Larry McElvarr. He should be able to tell you who to contact regarding the cemetary.

However, please be aware that most of the cemetary records were lost, a few decades ago. There's a good chance that you'll never know where someone is buried unless you can find a marker for them. [and many, many graves were never marked]

I don't know how much the groundskeeper might know, but he is there twice a day to unlock the gate (around 7am) and lock the gate (around 5pm) at Palmer and Memphis. On a nice day, it's actually quite pleasant to stroll thru the cemetery, so you could try your luck/memory that way.

Also, we live on Montgomery Ave. facing the cemetery and one of our neighbors (a life-long resident of Fishtown) knows a lot about the cemetery. If you care to PM me and give me some more info, I'd be happy to forward your inquiry to him.

Good luck.
