I'm living in Atlanta now and trying to find a raw loft space in Philadelphia. I'm looking for something pretty inexpensive, and decent size. If anyone knows of anything please let me know. I know here in Atlanta it's really based a lot on word of mouth as far as genuine raw spaces.... so if anyone can help, PLEASE do! I'm looking to spend around $700 max.

I know of some loft spaces for rent that range from $800 to $1150, but nothing in the $700 range.

Thanks for replying. In Atlanta we have a place called the West End Warehouses, and they are literally a series of old warehouse spaces. Each rents from $400-$1500 depending on the amount they've been built up. I was looking for something more along these lines. A raw space in need of some work... hence the cheaper rent.

Sorry I maybe wasn't detailed enough in what I was looking for.

Fishtown is more a place of rowhouses than lofts. Not too many here. There are totally abandoned buildings and then there are recently renovated lofts. It has only recently been experiencing a bit of a renaissance to justify investment; hence the great divide in quality. Not to say something like this definitely doesn't exist, but I'd be surprised if it did--let's put it that way.

I know that people used to live in loft spaces for dirt cheap directly east of Temple University (Broad and Montgomery Streets) in West Kensington. The only problem is that it is in a poorer, high crime area. But that is the tradeoff for cheap living...
