Default NKCDC NAC mtng re: Changes to Property Tax Assessments

Community Briefing

CHANGING HOW HOMES AND BUSINESSES ARE TAXED IN PHILADELPHIA: ASSESSING AT “FULL VALUE”

When: Tuesday, June 27, 6:45 p.m.

Where: St. Anne’s Senior Center, 2607 E. Cumberland St.
(between Almond & Aramingo)

What: The Bureau of Revision of Taxes (BRT), which assesses property for taxation, is working on major changes in its assessment procedures (the “Full-Value Project”).
• Many property owners will pay higher taxes, others lower taxes; some may see little change.
• What does “assessing at full-value” mean?
• Why move to this system?
• When will it happen?
• What types of homeowners, businesses, and communities will pay more? Pay less?
• What assistance will the city provide to those hit hardest?

These and other questions will be answered by knowledgable speakers from the BRT and other organizations.

Sponsored by the Neighborhood Advisory Committee of New Kensington CDC, 2515 Frankford Avenue.
Funding provided by the Philadelphia Office of Housing and Community Development.
