I've been going to the same mechanic in Port Richmond (where I grew up) since I started driving ...I still went there even after I moved to Fishtown 10 years ago. About 5 years ago, Mike, one of the better mechanics there left to work at a luxury car dealer (Lexus?). I just found out he's moved on again and opened up his own garage at Belgrade and Dauphin sts in Fishtown. It's called B&D Auto. Mike is a great mechanic and an old port richmond friend.

I used him to get my car inspected last week and will continue to patronize as long as he's in business in Fishtown. He said business was sort of slow but he kind of expected it in the beginning being new to the area and all. Sorry for this shameless plug but I just wanted to throw this out there for any new residents looking for a reliable, honest and experienced mechanic.

Interesting to see that there are two great garages right near each other. I highly recommend Garrison's, which is nearby at Memphis & Gordon. (I put a more complete recommendation on the fishtown.us website.)

It's always great to see an honest & competent professional hang up their shingle in the neighborhood!

Dan--you eventually have to veer off the Fishtown section of the blog...I know it's rough...lol. The happy hour is for the general blog, and is at Jack's Firehouse at 7pm on Thursday in Fairmount for anyone else who is a Fishtown-only reader. ;-) I always post them in the "general discussion" section and at some point, they usually migrate to the "Events" section.

Dave--you should modify your statement to "I'd follow you anywhere except on Thursdays, and all other days that end in 'y'."
