1st Friday reception @ Bambi, June 2nd
Tonight!
Quote:
Hey it's another first Friday at Bambi!
It could be argued successfully, that line drawing is one of the most personal exchanges between artist and viewer…a pen and ink conversation with the inner workings of creator, then linked to the consciousness of the admirer directly. Add to these "conversations"
broad swaths of vivid hues with a striking punctuation of both bright and dark colors and to the untrained eye, it is a marvel how characters and creatures come alive out of a blank page, to become a fully formed reality in the confines of one dimension…where lines and tone define all.
On Friday, June 2nd (oh yes Miss Bernice, another fabulous 1st Friday in Fishtown !)…the Bambi Gallery will present three talented artists in a show of recent works.
Miss Sarah Gamble and Matt Osborn, together, reveal a deft hand-eye coordination, with clever beasts and arch renderings of animated and entirely adorable monstrosities…bold color and trickily etched strokes bring to life these precious whimsies, caught on giant panels like madly brilliant imaginings.
Joe Boruchow's ensemble cast is a mix of familiar faces and complete strangers…features and figures both instantly recognizable and truly foreign. With one foot in the underground comix world and one talented hand on the pulse of poster art, Mr. Boruchow's rough hewn paper cut out lines reveal the personalities of his subjects and yet allow the viewer to "read-into" the backstory of his sultry, beautiful ladies and surly, surreal bad actors. There is a depth of craft immediately evident in these pieces…beyond cartoon, well outside of the merely illustrative, these works indeed reveal the talent behind the tools.
Doors open at 6:00p.m. and the lights start to dim around ten o'clock. The ever-popular "light fare, most tasty" will be on hand, as will a hosted bar (oh yes Miss Bernice, Cousin Ambrose will be pouring the cool refreshers)…for further directions or details, point your cursor to www.bambiproject.com. See you in Fishtown !!!
