Default Vote Me, Dan Roth, for U.S. House of Representatives

I noticed in the voting booth today that there was NOBODY running against Bob Brady! He was unopposed in the Democratic primary, and there was nobody running in the Republican primary.

So, I hereby announce my candidacy for the US House of Representatives.

Whether Democrat or Republican (especially if you're Republican, because nobody else is running!), please write in "Daniel Roth" today.

A write-in vote is simple...
1) Push the "write in" block where the candidate's name would be listed.
2) Press the red button at the top of the machine near where the little sliding cover is over the write-in spot.
3) Write in "Daniel Roth" (bring a pen - or ask to borrow one)
You're done! Just complete your voting as normal.

I wish I would have know you were running before I voted.

Don't feel bad.
If it wasn't before about 10:45 am, even I didn't know I was running.
Come to think of it, my wife still doesn't know I'm running.

This is an excelent thread because it has instructions on how to cast a ballot with a write in vote, if for no other reason.

Do you want to move to my side of town and run against Chaka Fattah or Jannie Blackwell? They never have any opposition candidates either.

You wouldn't even need to move. This is Philly. Only prudes and sissies actually care about little details like living in the district you want to represent. Heck, Bill Rieger hasn't lived in North Philly in about 20 years.

Absolutely. I think I have what everybody in Philadelphia wants in a candidate.
1) I only campaigned for a few minutes
2) No ugly posters littering the streets.
3) After the election I immediately left the city.

Default Write-ins played a part in at least 1 close race

I think it was the 179th district that had a race that was too close to call because the talliers had a hard time reading the names on some of the write-in ballots--it was in the News today at any rate--

Default Brady Was Prepared to Counter Write-In Campaign

It was reported in one of the newspapers that Congressman Bob Brady had literature printed up to counter a write-in campaign, but never used it because he saw no sign of one. Despite the closeness of the vote to succeed Bill Rieger--in which the write-in candidate backed by a large chuck of the party organization apparently just lost narrowly--write-ins under normal circumstances are pretty difficult to pull off.
