Studio B Hosts Benefit Brunch and Wellness Day To Support Northern Liberties Resident Recently Diagnosed With Cancer FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE STUDIO B Wellness Center will host a benefit Brunch and Wellness Day to Support Northern Liberties’ resident Jon Lustig who is being treated for brain cancer. The Benefit Brunch will take place on Sunday, May 21, 2006 12pm to 6pm at STUDIO B Wellness Center at 209 Fairmount Ave. Philadelphia, PA (in Northern Liberties). With a donation of $25 in advance and $30 at the door, participants will enjoy brunch and as many complimentary 20 minute treatments as they are interested in, with a variety of health and wellness practitioners specializing in: Reiki, Massage, Reflexology, Nutrition, and Chiropractics. All proceeds from the benefit will go directly towards the support of Jon Lustig in this time of need. Jon Lustig, 34, is a Northern Liberties based computer programmer, performing artist, and trained blacksmith. During 2005, Jon had a series of illnesses that could not be explained. After a CT scan at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in January 2006, he was told he had a mass in the right frontal lobe of his brain. Following further screening, doctors recommended that Jon undergo a craniotomy to remove the mass as soon as possible. A neurosurgeon succesfully removed a tumor that was several inches in diameter. Jon was soon told that the tumor was aggresively malignant and any remaining traces are likely to form into tumors again. He is currently undergoing radiation 5 days a week with chemotherapy to follow over the next few months. At the time of his diagnosis, Jon did not have health insurance and the intitial craniotomy was not covered. Since then, he has found a health insurance plan that will support his current treatment of radiation and chemo. He is left without energy and a reliable means to support himself. His partner Michelle, as well as friends, family, and colleagues, are all helping in what is hopefully a transitional time back to full health. At the suggestion of Lynn Taylor, owner of STUDIO B Wellness center where Jon is a student and has taught, a benefit to raise money to help him continue to support himself through this time was planned.“There doesn’t seem to be anything we can do to aid in the course of the disease, but we can help alleviate the financial burden and show him our support”, said Janell Wysock who worked with Jon at Peter’s Valley Craft School for the summer of 2004. Tickets for the Benefit Brunch for Jon Lustig can be purchased at the following locations: STUDIO B – 209 Fairmount Avenue. Philadelphia, PA 19123. Ground Floor Coffee- 209 Poplar Street. Philadelphia, PA 19123. , or by calling 215.733.9053. Jon Lustig documents his story “My Brain Tumor” online at http://jolustig.backpackit.com/pub/450220.
