Default Frankford Avenue Clean-up May 13, 2006

Hey everyone,
Earth Day's clean-up was rescheduled to May 13, 2006 at 9am at the Berks/Frankford Garden Center. Yards Brewery lunch to follow at noon. Please come out and spend a few hours with your neighbors to make Frankford Avenue all sparkly and clean for the Summer.

I'm the section leader for the Palmer to Norris section and am looking for a few good people to help out. Hope to see a bunch of you there. If you just moved into the neighborhood (and especially if I just sold you a house), it's a great time to meet neighbors and to check out all the purdy plants for sale at the Garden Center.

I like the guilt approach to recruiting.

There is also a clean-up at Pop's Playground beginning at 8:30am, as part of the postponed Keep PA Beautiful Day festivities. In an effort to take back the playground and make it safe for families again, neighbors & volunteers will be painting & making basic repairs to equipment. In the afternoon, CityYear will be organizing games and other youth-oriented activities. Pop's is located at 2150 E. Huntingdon Street @ Trenton Avenue (1 block east of Frankford).

Only if you promise to actually make it to Yards afterwards!

I am planning on working at the event, and I don't have a particular stretch that's a favorite, so I can probably work on yours. I've got a couple connections to Palmer St anyway, so that make sense to me.

I'll ask SteveeBoy if he's helping...

Nada. Nothing. Well, except if you have a pair of work gloves. Sometimes they have them. I prefer not to have my hands sweat in gloves not belonging to me where other hands have sweat before.

Looks like it may be another rain out. If it's cancelled and rescheduled, they'll let us know by noon today!

Right now, things are looking good for most of the daytime hours tomorrow, so I think the cleanup will probably proceed.
