Default Casino Committee agenda

Hi everyone-

There is a Fishtown Casino Committee meeting tonight, Apr 26th, from 7-9 at the Fishtown Rec. (across from the library, between Montgomery and Palmer, just northwest of Girard)

If you can't attend the meeting tonight, check out the website, www.fishtowncasinocommittee.org to email us and we can put you on the email list.

We will be addressing the following agenda points at tonight's meeting:

1) Update on the CONFUSING relationships among the neighborhood, the city, the state, and the casino companies,

2) Update on what has been done by FNA, NKCDC, Fishtown residents, and other groups around the city thus far

3) Where do we go from here? We have very limited time before the June 2 public comment deadline, so need to be extremely organized. Here are the things that need to be done before then:
a) establish consensus of what neighborhood goals are through education and outreach
b) produce Local Impact Report that responds to the Riverwalk, Sugar House, and Pinnacle Impact Reports, analyzing them with respect to the neighborhood goals
c) accomplish a letter-writing campaign for residents to submit individual written testimony to the state Gaming Board
d) establish working relationships with other Philly community groups that are facing slot parlors in their communities (MCA in Nicetown, Riverfront Communities United in S. Philly) in order to better negotiate with city officials

4) organize sub-committees to accomplish the above goals

5) complete surveys with indivicual contact information, areas of interest and time available for sub-committee involvement, and individual concerns about casino development

Hope to see you there!

-Sarah
