Default Military Helicopters

Huge transport helicopters have been flying over Fishtown for the past 3 days, anyone know what is going on?

Training exercises? Saw 2 of them around 9 this morning as I was leaving Lee Park near Conshohocken.

They're practicing yuppie evacuations for when the real estate bubble bursts.

One GUESS is that they are flying them to the Tioga Marine Terminal.

Tiogia is one of the major departure points for the huge militayr Ro-Ro ships.
These are used for supply runs to suppor the "war" in Central Asia (akak Iraq/Afghanistan).

Also maybe they are a new model and are being tested vis a vis Willow Grove?

How big were they - twin rotors?
I think those are manufactured at the Boeing facility just south of the airport.

They were big C47 Chinook type helicopters...you see them and other military rotary wings every once in a while. Odds are they are taking part in a Guard training exercise...saw a squadron of Apaches a few years back.

Dan, yuppies don't need air evacuation. They all have lawyers and Hummers.

I saw a bunch of them "parked" in the big lot on Delaware Ave., just north of the Walt Whitman Bridge.

I was at the IKEA on Columbus Blbd around 9:15am and saw one taking off this morning. It was hoovering for a bit right by the bridge then took off towards Center City.

Maybe they are relocating due to the snow.

It was pretty cool...

That's good. Philly needs a good hoovering. Especially in the Big Box Store sections. :you_the_:
