Default New restaurant moving into Old San Juan

I noticed a couple of days ago that there is a coming soon sign in the old El Viejo San Juan building. It began with a "B" and sound like it could be either Italian or Hispanic in nature. Wish I could remember the name right now. Anyone know what's up with the new place?

I think that's the name on the sign, and yes, it's to be Italian. I haven't seen any activity there, but we can hope!

El Viejo San Juan is gone? That sucks. When did it shut down?

I guess it's into months (not weeks) that it's been closed. Sorry Dave, but I won't miss it. I was only there twice and was underwhelmed by the food both times.

I actually had a couple of good experiences there foodwise, and a few of my friends from Puerto Rico said the food was pretty close to home. Service was always slow. It has been closed since at least July, as I was hoping that the owners were just on vacation.

Yeah, I guess I'll cross it off my list of places to try out. Eldondre, where were you with this news?!

I wonder if it the same owners as el Viejo San Juan? From Spain to Puerto Rico to Italy ?
I had pretty bad luck with very price-y, very watered-down sangria from the last manifestation.

Curious about how the Italian will be, it's got some tough competition from Il Cantuccio and Rustica. I wouldn't mind if it could edge Spaghetti Warehouse into history.

As for another Mediterranean eatery;
Aden... well, there are just too many rules {smile, order appetizers} and too much haggle-ing over what "from the chef" means for me to eat there anymore.

Haven't been to Rustica, but I'll agree that Il Cantuccio is pretty damn good.

I'm not even sure how the Spaghetti Warehouse stays in business, I hardly ever see anyone in there.

despite legends to the contrary, I'm only one man. I had heard they were remodelling. sad they closed. the food was hit or miss but it was one of th ebetter PR restaurants around and certainly the most accessible. it was one of the few places I've been where the bartender woudl reliably complain about a 1930's CIA assasination. go figure.
