I heard a rumor last night that there is a gourmet Italian deli going in on the corner of Shackamaxon and Girard. They are in construction now, but there are no signs up for it yet. Anyone else heard this?

I have not noticed it, but I will definitely be on the look out.

Someone I know who lives on Shackamaxon asked the construction workers about it. That's what they told him.

There was a sign in the window for a couple months, a couple months ago, saying "Italian graocer coming soon." The sign has been down for a couple weeks now, though - which I took as a bad sign.

That's the very corner my mom, and dad fell in love on. Ahhhhhh.

There is a sign in the window as of Tuesday, "Coming Soon AT's deli". I live on Shackamaxon and the owners came around several months back and went door to door discussing their plans. The one owner, Timmy, is a Fishtown guy, I think he is a contractor. They want to have good deli meats, sandwiches, salads and stuff like that. They have put a lot of work into the building. There will be a two story apt. above the deli. It will be nice to have a store so close by, besides the "deli" on the corner of Frankford and Girard.

I also noticed yesterday that Johnny Brenda's has a Stop Work order on their front door. No permits for an addition. Interesting.
