Friday.

...and this week is recycle week so every other fri thereafter is recycle week. If you're reallyconscientious/ambitious they collect plastic (#1 and #2) recycles every 1st sat of the month on the Memphis St. side of Palmer Cemetery

thanks. what are the rules as far as when you're allowed to put the trash bags/cans on the curb for pick-up? (or are there any rules?) i haven't moved in yet but i'll be fixing up my new house sporadically throughout april -- want to make sure i go with the flow.

Pretty liberal rules unless you're me and your one neighbor hates you so she keeps calling the cops to come throw the book at you. Technically it's 6 bags all under, I believe, 45 lbs. You can check it out on phila.gov. Good to know about recycling--I had no clue anyone here recycled. Whoops.

I took down three ceilings in one room with the lathe and needless to say, I had quite a few weeks to pass before I got rid of it all. The dump is up Richmond Street in Port Richmond, so my neighbor tells me...that way if you have a truck, you can bring it directly there and get it off your property.

"Bulk trash" I'm determined is a myth. You can call them as many times as you want but they don't come and they don't call you. Perhaps if you are owed some patronage from John Street...

I think technically, you're not supposed to put the trash out before 7pm on thursday night, but I'm sure those rules aren't enforced. I've put it out earlier many times, even recall putting it out on weds, before leaving for a long weekend down the shore, etc.

tsk tsk Brooke :icon_be_: we recycle glass, metal and paper. make sure you put the paper in paper bags (brown shoppoing bags) else they wont take it. We even do the plastics once a month ...my wife is the recycling nazi ;-)

I also called and called to make arrangements to get rid of an old fridge and a stove that were left at our place and finally ended up giving the garbage guys $40 and that was that.

Does the recycling at Memphis/Palmer takes cardboard boxes? I have a TON from my recent move.
Unless ...Ronchito, Do you need moving boxes?

If you have a truck you can't use the dump. They will only accept refuse from cars, for the fear of construction debris being brought in by "pros". The city prefers to have them dump behind Richmond St.
