Philly is indeed a sad city for 24 hour diner dining. Broad Street Diner is particularly grim. Makes Silk City look like The Fountain.

I don't know about the Broad Street Diner, but the absolutely worse diner I have ever been to is the one that's just off Cheltenham, near Ogontz/309. Low quality ingredients, poorly prepared, and served slowly at inflated prices... unless things have changed in the last few years.

I like the Midtown that is on 11th and Sansom, definitely the best of the Midtowns.

How's the Acropolis (I know it's not 24 hrs) for breakfast?

The Acropolis is GREAT for breakfast of the eggs/meat/potatoes kind...
generous portions of well-executed diner-fashion standards.

I have been there for supper and didn't like my food,
but love the breakfasts.

the "munchie combo" at the midtown is the best
especially when you have the munchies

OMG -- Broad Street Diner -- they make you PAY for your food before you get it, INCLUDING GRATUITY... then the waitress forgets about you and your food and you can't short her tip for shitty service, or cancel something they forgot to bring you BECAUSE YOU ALREADY PAID FOR IT. You can't easily get drink or coffee refills either, because they got your tip and move right on to smoking in the back room. Worst Diner Ever.

I used to love The Great American Diner in Bensalem. Whenever I go up there, I try to stop in.

The Great American is a really good diner.
However, in that region I think the Golden Eagle Diner in Bristol tops them all.
