Drinking Liberally
I'm gauging interest in a second Philadelphia chapter of Drinking Liberally, probably in or around Northern Liberties/Fishtown locale.
Drinking Liberally is an informal, inclusive Democratic drinking club. Raise your spirits while you raise your glass, and share ideas while you share a pitcher. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club - just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. Bars are democratic spaces - you talk to strangers, you share booths, you feel the bond of common ground. Bring democratic discourse to your local democratic space - build Democracy one drink at a time. It would be on a night alternate from the existing group; maybe Mondays or Thursdays? They still meet but up the street at tangiers. I haven't gone, I don't really like it there much. 10 stone is a more entertaining place.

I like drinking and I am liberal but I don't like to talk politics whilst drinking...I wonder if there's a good group for that out there...

Yes but there's no liberal screening process of which I am familiar for these people. Although in this city, there's a good chance if you earn less than $100K, you're a liberal.

It's certainly not a debate or convention-type setup. Some nights are more politically oriented if there's a guest, or something is going on in the news. But overall it's fun first and politics second. Once we get a location set; you should give it a try.
