Default Bike Shop Soon to Open On Frankford

The really cool building right across from Belgrade on Frankford that looks like a firehouse will soon be a operating bike shop. It's my understanding that the owners have been slowly renovating the space into live/work space over the past 2-3 years and are about ready to open. Over the next few weeks, I hear they will be open under appointment only with a grand opening soon.

Stay tuned...!

I've been fishing for information on this on another Web site, to no avail. All I've seen so far is this, from The Bicycle Club of Philadelphia:

Quote:
Saturday, October 22 - Tour of Philadelphia. Class C, 25-30 miles. Ends at the PARK IT HERE ArtRack celebration at the New Kensington CDC's Garden Center, 1825 Frankford Ave. Meet at noon at 1420 N. Frankford, aka The Bicycle Stable. Leaders: Gary Gottesfeld and Chaz Vlasits, 484-802-5043. There will also be a Bike Swap Meet at this event at The Bicycle Stable 2-5 PM. Table fee is $10. For a table, please contact Chaz at 484-802-5043 or Kathryn at 215-427-0350 x 120, http://www.nkcdc.org/text/artracks.htm
Interesting to note: The second telephone number is for the NKCDC.

Chaz and his wife are the owner of the bike shop, I guess. If you drive by today, you can see the front iron blockade is gone and flyers are in the windows.

Of course, I don't own a bike...

...But maybe soon I will...

There's no reason not to. Biking is the best feeling in the world. Riding up and down the hills of NoLibs is much better exercise than patronizing some nasty basement gym.

What hills are there in No. Libs? Hey, don't mock my gym--they give you free towels and point fans in my way without me asking!

It's a slight grade, more noticeable on Spring Garden from Front to 2nd. Nothing compared to Manayunk, but still there.

Also, I managed to speak with Chaz yesterday as I was riding home. Seems like a nice guy, and I look forward to the new shop. My bank account doesn't, but that's another story.

Do you know what kind of shop we are talking about? Is it primarily new stuff, used stuff, just mechanics?
