Why? Via kind of corners the market in used, and the other "new" option in the neighborhood only stocks a few middle-of-the-road* manufacturers, it would seem the right choice. Especially considering the influx of people, a wider selection of frames/etc might do well. But that's just my opinion...

If I see him on tonight's commute, I'll ask.

It appears that the store is used bikes and service. I went to the swap meet there and there were some decent components to be had, some new and some used. Hopefully there will be a better turnout with rescheduling due to rain.
