Default Three Cheers for the New Pathmark

Anyone been to the new Pathmark in Port Richmond on Aramingo across from the old one? This totally rocks. Great selection of food, esp. Spanish and Polish food, very clean, smelled like homemade ginger snaps when I was there last week. They have quick lines, self-serve lanes and you can actually take your cart to your car.

For those familiar with the area, it's where the Acme used to be located.
I haven't been there yet, but my wife (who hated the old Pathmark) speaks very well of it.

I haven't been to that one, but generally speaking I like Pathmark.

The only reason I liked the old Pathmark was because it was open 24 hours a day and it was about 2.5 blocks from work. I stopped by the new one on my way home a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and bright lighting. They seem to be going for a slightly more "gourmet" theme than the old location. The space is bigger so they can fit even more screaming kids into the store than the previous location (which I did not think was possible). It is certainly a vast improvement. As for the old store, I've heard about five potential tenants ranging from Best Buy or Circuit City to an LA Fitness (with a pool!). But I just saw a new "available" sign out front last week so I guess they have no takers yet. I hope it's LA Fitness, I HATE Bally's and their sqweaky/broken equipment and disorganized free weight "system".
Also look for the new Target store to open on Oct. 9 right behind Home Depot on Castor (between Aramingo and Richmond).

Ohhhhhh, LA Fitness! That would be great. I'm waiting for Fishtown to get its own gym. With a pool would be super! It would be nice if I could find someone who wanted to open a gym in one of these warehouses for sale...so many buildings that would make a really cool place to work out...and so much better than the Bally's/LA Fitness models of big box blah gyms!

So I heard from my people at the Citizens Bank at the old Pathmark location on Aramingo that the former market is going to be a Foreman Mills. I can't say that I'm particularly excited, but I guess it beats a vacant space. I don't know if this is a 100% deal yet, but my sources sounded confident.

The new Pathmark is definitely an improvement from the Acme, but for my money, the Thriftway at Aramingo and York gets you in and out the quickest.
