Default Paper disposal

I have amassed an inordinate ammount of paper over the years- junk mail, bills, old receipts, and stuff with my financial information on it- and am looking for a fast and efficient way to dispose/destroy of it. Any suggestions?

If you can hold off until the next Shredder event that Channel 10's Tracey Davidson et al run periodically, you can dump it all there, but it can be a distance, and they are infrequent. My solution was just luck. I called some places advertising shredding for businesses in the Yellow pages and one of them told me that the guy who drove the truck to the locations (possibly the owner?) might be willing to meet an individual if it was near his route. For a small amount (I only have a single large trash basket) I meet him in Bala Cynwyd on Presidential Blvd. It's like some spy meeting only out in the open. I park in one of the parking areas that serves multiple offices around there and wait til his truck pulls up to the curb. He comes to my car and takes my stuff to his specially equipped large container, dumps it all in and activates the automatic mechanism that dumps his container inside the truck and shreds it. I give a few bucks and we part company til the next time. This usually happens about twice a year and takes all of 10 minutes at the most. I have a disability and can't drive to or stand for the duration of the Shredder events, nor can I hand shred each page, so while you would think I wouldn't need this service, I've found it invaluable. Somehow I generate a ton of paper with my personal iformation on it, and this gets rid of it. Recently I had my bedroom closet redone and in the process of cleaning it out for the work, the contractor found a shoebox full of cancelled checks from 1987 that I didn't know was there, so there's another box of junk that has to go soon.
If you're interested, email me and I'll give you his name and number. I'm a little reluctant to post it publicly because I don't really know how interested he is in having many people know he will do this. I think it would be a neat idea to hire someone like him to do an occasional Fairmount shredding event. There must be more people than you and I who have this problem.

If you have a massive amount there is a company that comes and does it for you. I can't remember the name but if you google philadelphia bulk shredding or something like that you'll find it.

To Hospitality Girl,

I have a shredder, but I also have hand problems. I can't possibly feed each document into the shredder. Takes too long and the motion is terrible for my hands. There are a few things that come thru the mail which i immediately shred, but most of it ends up in my office in the "to be shredded" bin.
