Is it just me, or do others here have trouble getting this section of the site (the Fairmount/Art Museum/Brewerytown forum) to load from time to time?
This morning, I would click on a bookmark for the site, and it wouldn't load. This happens fairly frequently (like 3 days a week, maybe). But now, the site is fine. It may be something on my end, but I'm inclined to think it's Phillyblog. |

Yeh, but not just the Fairmount section, but the whole site. It's always been the case for me since I signed up a few months ago.

Whoever is in charge needs to either fix the problem(obviously!!!),
WITH PROPER DOWNTIME ANNOUNCEMENTS!!! or suspend the site until(again with proper announcements) there's time enough to tackle what ails it once and for all. If resources aren't available to fix it then the site should be suspended until it can be (fixed). Does it make any sense to just keep people wondering what's going on? No. It makes more sense to *tell* them what's wrong and post what will or won't done about it. |

I have also experienced downtime (sitewide, not just FM,AM,BT board).
I'm not part of the Philly blog "staff"... but in general, forums / bulletin boards are very "resource intense" on whatever server they are running on. Depending on where or how the site is hosted (what type of server, how much memory is in the server, how many other sites are hosted on that same server, etc...) peak browsing time (AM, lunch, etc) probably kicks the server's(') butt! So sometimes the server just can't keep up with our addiction to be informed (or trash fellow posters)... and that constant "reload" that most people do in an attempt to get a page to load just exacerbates the problem. Just an FYI... Last edited by nerf : 07-07-2008 at 10:35 AM. Reason: sp |
