Default Single-stream recycling

http://www.phila.gov/streets/SsAreas3and5.pdf

We had an automated phone message a while back that was saying something about single-stream recycling (I think), but when I checked the recycling website, it didn't mention it - so I wasn't sure if we actually had it or not.

However, according to the document linked above (and the fact that I've noticed them picking up cardboard with the other recyclables lately) it seems that Fairmount does, in fact, have single-stream recycling now.

I sort of wish it was every week. This seems to be good progress, though.

Indeed we do have it. It's a great improvement.

AND the flyer that was link said plastics too!

If by January we have single stream AND every week pick up, THAT I will have no problem giving Nutter tons of credit for. This was a change the City very much needed.

Now if we can just get two trash days a week ...

Thanks for the jeads up Jason. At the BSCCA there were unconfirmed rumors this was going on ... nice to know for sure now.

Sneaky single stream!!

This is great, I'm glad I logged on. I've seen some plastic in people's recycling lately and thought, hmmmm??? Am I missing something?

This is cool news. Thank you.

Yeah, the Inky had a article two months ago:

So you know, checking out Philly.com once and a while isn't a bad thing....

Default recycling bin

I have been trying to figure out how to get a recycling bin (just moved here). Can anyone let me in on the secret?

Any box or can or paper bag will do, as long as it's obviously recycling.

Default No plastic bottlecaps

One note -- please take the caps off your plastic 1 & 2 bottles, and dispose of them in your regular garbage. They don't get recycled.

It's wonderful to see how many people are participating in the neighborhood!
