When I was a kid last millenium ( gosh, that's actually a true statement ) kids themselves were the crossing guards: each school had a group of 5th/6th graders who were "traffics'. Doesn't - or is it didn't - Philly have such a thing ??

(and for those who've never heard of - and can't vizualize- sending a bunch of 10 year olds in front of speeding cars with a stop sign, I assure you it really did exist: I'm not smoking on the job....blogging, yes, but not smoking)

I reported the incident and gave a description of both women, time of day, etc. Hopefully that will help them to pinpoint the person they need to and take it from there.

Philly Lion brings up an excellent point. I imagine that even the most ardent proponent for marijuana use (Towelie?) would freak the F out if he came home to find his babysitter smoking a J.

I hope that this case is investigated and that the woman is tested. If she is found to be positive, I hope that they get her help. I think that someone who would do that in such a situation has major problems.

Yes, indeed, Philadelphia did have "Safety Patrol" kids...They were assigned a corner and didn't stand in the middle of the street holding up a sign - what they DID do was prevent their little charges from going into the street until there was NO traffic in sight...The "safeties" were treated to a major league baseball game once a year in appreciation for their service...

Herb can stay in your system for months. A test means nothing. Get her help? For what? Marijuana isn't addictive. Not that that excuses someone from burning while tending to children. If she's caught in the act, she should be canned plain and simple.

Is this at Corinthian and Brown? I see her every single morning - it is really beginning to piss me off. Not only does she sit in her car all morning, but she sits in a no parking zone, blocking any view I have of on-coming traffic. It's horrible. She's making it harder for children and cars to cross the street - you might as well not even have her there.

As today was the last day of school 'til September it's unlikely she'll be caught in the act...

I think if she is smoking in front of the children something should b done. However, if she's not and it doesn't affect the children in any way, who gives a ****! Everyone has their flaws. It's not like she's on the corner smokin crack! Weed is not something u go to rehab for!

Weed affects judgment and reaction time. She was working, and her job is to ensure the safety of children crossing the street.

I agree that it is not something that people normally go to rehab for, but if someone would smoke at work, while supervising children, that shows that something is seriously wrong.

Would you want someone to smoke pot while caring for your children?
