I'm not asking you to agree with me. Just giving my opinion.

Crossing guard is a pretty important job. I wouldn't want someone who's high being responsible for the safety of children. Report it.

It should be reported, especially since there are children involved. Doesn't matter if pot should be legalized or not, right now it's illegal and if a kid ever got hurt because a crossing guard was 'under the influence' of any kind of substance, I can't even imagine the scandal/lawsuits that would follow.

There is no way someone high on weed should be looking after the safety of young children. I like smoked weed once or some number in that general area say from 10,000 to 1, and there is no way I was up to looking after children, especially their safety. It is irresponsible, and selfish and should certainly be reported.

they've been smoking weed there for years, not to mention their other drug choices, why send you kids to that school, or to any philly school.

This is an example of when somebody goes above and beyond we should also let the right people (her supervisors) know.
+1 I'm going to miss her after Thursday. She tells me whether or not I need to run for the bus when I come up Mount Vernon!

As for the smoking pot thing- I'm sure there are numerous reasons for drug free school zones. But the most important reason I can think of is so drugs aren't left behind on the ground for kids to pick up and do something with them. For example, what do you suppose they do with their roaches when they're done?

I just thought of something, does Philly have "Drug Free School Zones?" where the fines are exponentially higher than outside of the zones? Isn't there a drug corner like 2 blocks away from that school?

Her behavior is inconsistent with someone high on marijuana. However, she should be fired.

Default Moral thing to do

...Is to report it.

We can talk all day about how pot should be legal - but that is irrelevant here. If that crossing guard was drinking a beer (which is a legal drug) there would be no discussion, you would have reported it ASAP.

So report it, please.

If some kid gets hit at that corner you will never be able to forgive yourself.

My intention is to report it. I posted on here inquiring about the proper channels to go through, and also to warn parents that the crossing guard may not be at her faculties 100%.

I'm not familiar with the school district and wasn't sure if she would have worked for the school, or the PPD.

Drinking alcohol is legal, but I certainly don't want someone doing it while they are supposed to be in charge of the safety of 100s of kids.

Also, I don't want to mess with someone's income, but safety of kids is way more important and the real issue.

She can clean up her act, or find some other job where she can get high and not endanger kids.

It's an outrage. Report it! Kids in the neighborhood have precious few good examples and these people are paid by the police department, for heaven's sake.

Whether or not it should be legal - under certain circumstances - is another question altogether. Alcohol is legal, except when you're driving. Drugs and public safety jobs don't mix.
