Default Who painted your cornice?

Our cornice needs to be scraped and painted. I'm looking for a recommendation for a good, fairly priced painter or contractor. Bonus points if they also do tree removal and can replace my front steps (and do it all for under $1000 - LOL!)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

No one responded, so... We can do all you listed and I can give you address' to drive by to look at our work. We are actually halfway through a cornice on Beechwood St. now.

You are hiring a professional, that has a legitimate business and pays taxes and has a mortgage. Under 1k is not going to happen unless you take your chances with some fly by night outfit. I estimated some steps recently and the homeowner went with another crew (half my price), I drove by the other day on my way to another job, the steps are all sloped in This winter there will be nice pools of ice to step on.

So you get what you pay for, also check to see if they are licensed by the city and insured, and call the insurance company to verify it's still active.

Your looking at about $1300 for the cornice (two colors). The steps could be any material (stone, brick, concrete, slate) so I can't price them.

Default Cornice Painting

I am also a contractor, painting and tile, I would agree with Chris. To find a licensed and insured professional for less than $1,000.00 will be challenging.

Don't worry, I was being facetious about the $1000 for all three services... though I was expecting the cornice work alone to be less than that. I already got a quote (from a licensed and insured contractor) for $650-$750 (one color) so $1300 seems a little high to me, even for two colors. The cornice is in good shape, I just want to maintain it, not decorate it.

I would like to hear from some people who have actually had cornice work done, and are pleased with the results. If it costs $1000 or more to be happy with the end results, than that's worth it to me, but I'd rather hear that from consumers than contractors.

Chris, that being said, I am going to PM you about the steps. I think you had mentioned to someone in an earlier thread to send photos of the existing steps and you could make some suggestions or provide a quote for replacing with salvaged marble steps?
