Memorial Day Display?
I also saw the star pennant, and saw the flag display at a different time - never made the connection between the 2 being at the same house.
When a soldier is killed the blue star pennant is replaced with the gold star pennant, hence the term 'gold star mom'. But there is a big delay in military families getting those because The Decider has these flags made in Thailand or something like that. A retired Marine is now hand-sewing every one and sending them to each family because he feels they should be made in America, but he also - sadly - has more work than he can keep up with.
Likely this was a Memorial Day display - as I agree we would've heard of a local mom losing two sons in a relative short time. I hope it was.
But thanks to the original poster for pointing that out - it is important to remember that we have people in our community who are making real sacrifices. We complain about $4 gas and traffic on the ACEX while moms across the nation are burying children.
I wish that mom could tell certain politicians why it "matters" when her kids come home.
