I went with my cousin. We both ordered burgers. We liked them, until the waiter told us they had lamb in them. She doesn't eat lamb and was very upset. I guess they should put that on the menu in case of allergies (she isn't allergic, but thinks they are cute).

My wife had the opposite problem - she loves lamb in her burgers and said she couldn't taste any sign of the lamb in the patty.

Can't please everyone. Or anyone, apparently.

He is definitley talented but to judge the menu at this point is just premature, they haven't set on it yet and will be changing it quite a bit until they are were they want to be. Go back in a few months and judge the food then, then again this can be said of any bar or restaurant ever. Having said that, I had the wings, they were freaking awesome.

I saw a lot of promise and if I still lived in the area would go on a regular basis.
Interestingly I find the food at McCrossen's today to be well above average. Never had a meal that wasn't really good. Haven't tried this new place yet but we will. That said, Belgian Cafe & St Stephen's Green have proved very, very disappointing.

I didn't really taste it either. Was your wife told there was lamb in it before she ordered? That's my only issue. Let people know in case they can't/won't eat something unexpected and unseen.

yeah, she knew there was lamb in it and she was excited about it. The bartender told her, I think. Don't remember if it was on the menu.

It definitely wasn't mentioned on the menu. That's my objection (or actually my cousin's objection).

McCrossen's definitely has gone down hill over the past couple years since the head chef/cook left. After too many disappointing meals and truly awful service, I was forced to shun the place despite its proximity.

Funny you should say that. Tonight we had dinner there. The drinks had barely been served before the first course appeared and as soon as the last drop of soup was consumed, the entree was on the table. I'd have preferred a slightly more leisurely time actually.

When was the last time you folks went there? I've been there three times in the past week and every time we've had a good meal and good service...

I still like McCrossen's, despite all it's ups and downs. Hasn't been the same since Chris the Aussie bartender left, of course, but they still have pretty good beer on draft. The food has been up and down, but is a little better these days, and the service is on an upswing. And the wings just can't be beat.
