was this about 9 pm? We heard it too and thought it was amateur fireworks. Wishful thinking.

yes heard the 7 or 8 shots and then saw two men running down cambridge. apparently a man was shot in the leg at the corner of 29th and cambridge... not the first incident this year at this corner. The cops were out looking in full force, I saw a helicopter too. Hopefully they caught them.

i didnt see anyone that was hurt.

btown aint any worse, people are just starting to pay attention. this last spike in crime has not been the norm over the last few years. in 05/06 it was much worse and before that it was even worse then that (2000). the cops are on it. they have been doing a good job making it harder for shooters to get away so it is a bit of a deterrent. i remember when we first got here there was shooting on murderwood and ONE car showed to a man that was killed. there was very little police presence around here. no when something happens they are very quick and there are tons of cars combing the area. last night they where all over the neighborhood doing their job and doing it well.

One person was hurt...shot in the leg.

It was a busy night on that block...a few hours later 2 homes caught fire...not much sleep on Cambridge but a good group of neighbors came out to support each other!

Fire Damages Brewerytown Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A fire in the city's Brewerytown section left a row home damaged and family homeless.

Authorities said flames broke out at about 12:30 a.m. Friday at a home in the middle of the row in the 2900 block of Cambridge Street.

All occupants of the home escaped unharmed and the fire was placed under control at 1:11 a.m.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Interesting - I wonder if this had anything to do with the shooting, seems a little too coincidental it happened just hours after the shooting on the same block. I may have been watching to many 'law and orders.' Also nothing was written in any of the news sites about the shooting all I found was this article about the fire.

Very doubtful.

All indications are that the fire started on a third-floor rear deck.

So someone fires 8 shots, shoots someone and later houses are set on fire.

In typical fashion someone says, No big problem, it's been worse.
O.K., Now cue HG to say; "at least we are not (Detroit/Baltimore/Bagdag) !"

In 5.....4......3.......2......
