On the lighter side, actually I really like Lee's Kitchen (armed robberies, high customers, etc not withstanding). The shrimp lomein is tasty and the fried dumplings are awesome. The folks who own it have always been nice. It sucks, though, they they have to run it from behind a plexiglass barricade (same for the corner stores on Girard).

Actually, four of five of those nondescript new houses are sold.Twentythird and Brown is in terms of culture and safety light years away from 29th and Girard. Besides there is always Jumbo's. Those guys will take care of any problems. |

I also think shootings do not help; but that might just be me. There are a number of 3-4 bed renovated rowhouses in Fairmount for that price or less in what is in my opinion a nicer part of town; I doubt the parking does not off set the shootings for most people. They might sell at $470 |
