Default Po Po On the hunt

There was a group of 4 early-teen boys evading a PPD Van yesterday near Brewerytown Square at about 7:30pm. Anyone have any gossip on it? 3 boys ran behind the fence along the tracks and the 4th strutted by the van. We closed our door (after our puppy-poop run- picked it up like good neighbors) and heard the siren and squeal of tires a few moments later.

There have been a run of burglaries in the neighborhood perpetrated by a group of 3-4 12 year old boys.

Last night, around 7:15, there were a group of about 6 or 8 teens walking west on Brown bouncing a basketball. I thought I heard some noise (glass?) in the distance (near 25th street). They started laughing, started to run, then returned to walking and bouncing their basketball.
I didn't think anything of it. I just thought they were being loud and obnoxious. Then, I noticed one of the neighbors cleaning up some glass on her stoop. It appears that they we throwing rocks at each other (they were on opposite sides of the street) and one broke the small window next to the front door. I'd imagine that my neighbor called the police.
I hope they caught the punks.

This is why kids need structured after school activities or sports.

Great, summer isn't even hear yet.

We see those same punks vandalizing property... throwing rocks, kicking fences etc. I don't hesitate to call the cops on them either.

I'm sure they will someday become productive citizens of society

Has anyone else noticed the enormous amount of grafitti lately? On the parking signs on the streets; the US mailboxes, trashcans & even on the sides of people's rowhomes??? Maybe I'm just waking up & seeing it all but I really noticed it on Monday when I went for a walk. Someone told me that they are using acid or something to 'tag' - is this true?
WHAT's WRONG WITH PEOPLE??? (i think i say that at least 5x daily!)

That's what they use to tag glass. It's not a new thing - acid has been used for many years.

septa must be doing a good job securing their layup yards because for a citywith so many lame grafitti punks (the artists are rare) I'm surprised there are no graffiti covered trains, other than the etched glass

If you think there is a lot of graffiti, there is even more that is removed by the 9th District, call 215-686-3089 and ask for the graffiti cop. They will come out, take pictures, prints, and get it removed by the city.

Graffiti?! That's the least of anyone's worries. In the last week the FILTH in this neighborhood shot up 29th and Cambridge, aimed a gun at a poor woman unloading groceries, and ripped off the Poplar St Bridge! Not to mention the scumbags who sling dope all day on either corner of Cambridge between 29 and 30. Something has to give. I personally feel closing Lee's Kitchen and the Stop and Go would be a step in the right direction.

Graffiti IS a worry. Many times what looks like plain old "tagging" is messages or claims of turf from one gang to another. Something as seeminly "innocent" as a few initials scribbled on a wall has some meaning to someone.
Graffiti is like a tattoo. It has meaning to the person who put it there.
