Default Moving In...17th &green

Hey everyone - after a longggggg and draining apartment search i finally found an apartment i like. I somewhat familiar with the area, it is very close to work, and it really is a beautiful block.

I have been trolling the baord as much as possible for the community programs, local info, local resturaunts, nightlife etcetera - and i wondered if anyone would like to throw two cents my way in regards to:

Stumbling home at night
key bus routes (not broad st line) as i have gotten rid of my car
breakfast, lunch, dinner/takeout
Any overall information would be nice.

thanks for your input - see you around.

St STephens. End of story. Great food. Great beer. Great bartenders, cute waitresses!

Youre not gonna do better then the BSl as for late night unless you take a taxi.

Other places nearby for food that are good is Loca at Corinthian and Fairmount BYOB, London bar at 23rd and Fairmount and Rembrandts at 23rd and Aspen.

Oh yeah Stones at 17th and Fairmount is one of the best beer distributors in the city.

Yeah I imagine st stephens will be a frequent spot. As for transportation I use Bsl everday/night I'm sure I'll figure out tv bus routes pretty quick.

The fire house mugshots? Walking home after 2am from those places or north star - box cutter or bear mase? Kidding...

You'll need something more than a box cutter, although it's not a bad choice. Not kidding.

Welcome to the neighborhood; I hope you enjoy it - it's a great place to live! Try Sabrina's on 18th & Callowhill for brunch/lunch after a night at SSG

Fairmount has random car break ins and robberies.

And no...this doesn't happen everywhere. It happens more along the northern boundary of Fairmount (Girard) with North Philly where the thugs love to go hunting for "crime happens everywhere" type of people.

Crime happens a little more in the far reaches of University City, Fairmount, and Fishtown/Kenso and Southwest Center City.

anywhere you have perceived wealth along extreme poverty.

Just a heads up.

Watch more for people following you...teens on bikes in groups.. people that look shady.

Avoid blocking your hearing with an Ipod or being blindly drunk by yourself.

Default Welcome...

Obviously, SSG. Hoagies from City View Pizza (they're not Primo's or Tony L's, but walking distance). Wings @ McCrossin's, and yes, brunch at Sabrina's .

I hear Jack's firehouse and that bar at 17th and F'mnt are both pretty good?!?!

Write on a small piece of paper and throw in your wallet...

Route 2 late-night schedule @ 16th and Market... subtract a few mins for Walnut and blocks south, and pad by 5-10 mins as they sometimes run fast when there isn't traffic. Weekday vs. Saturday schedules are within a few minutes of eachother at that hour, so no need to distinguish. Runs less often than BSL, but gets you 3 blocks (over and up) closer.

Don't "stumble." If you are stumbling drunk, don't look like it or just pay the $7 for a cab. Common sense and street smarts helps you get home safe!

the 43 bus route runs along spring garden and will get you to northern liberties and fishtown. it runs sort of late, but not closing time late. the 17 bus merely mimicks the BSL route. the 15 runs all night from NL/Fishtown/Port Richmond oin Girard but I don't know what broad st is like between girard and green at that time of night. I've done it before (NYE when cabs are scarce) but not regularly.

Sabrina's has become so popular during weekday lunch time that it's HARD to
get in. Great for them do I'm sure they're happy!
