I just found out that I need to attend another public meeting that night for work, is there any other way to participate and show that I care about this issue?

For this meeting, I don't know. This is predominantly a "show of force" event. It probably be a good idea for us to get signatures of the people that show up. If we do, I will let you know so you can sign on.

A lot of those active in the community will be there that night. A veritable "who's who".

Members of the Brewerytown Sharswood Community Civic Association, Fairmount CDC, Fairmount CA, Greater Brewerytown CDC, Girard Coalition, West Girard Community Council, West Girard Supermarket Coalition, Officers of the Republican 29th Ward (and I am sure others I have not mentioned).

Not to mention at least 5 people that will be on the election ballot in November.

I also believe someone from Clarke's office will be there as well.

This could very well be THE community activist mixer of the decade for the area.

This isn't a meeting of our elected officials geared to blow smoke up our asses.

This is a candidate forum for people running for election. We are putting them on the stage (and on the spot) on addressing the issues and putting forth ideas and plans.

Our current elected local officials have been telling us "it can't be done". Well, this is to open it up and see who can give ideas and plans on how it CAN be done... and if it someone says something you agree with and believe them, well, keep it in mind when you donate, volunteer and vote for November.

I have some press there as well, so the worst that happens is that we can report a large number of area residents showing up to this event and show how important this is and increase its visibility. That is why it is important as many people s possible can show up. Bring yourself, bring friends, bring neighbors... hell, even bring the guy in Fairmount that is always asking for cab fare. We need to pack this church.

And if it ends up being a dog and pony show, I will be irritated with myself for organizing such an event that wastes my community's time, but this is a way for US to tell THEM what we want as opposed to the usual Philadelphia method of our elected officials dictating to us.

Adam, your efforts are appreciated. I guess I'm cynical from all the other meetings. If I see Earl "locked out", I'll tell him to pass the time at the meeting til his "wife" gets home......
