Just to remind people ... there is still the local ice cream shop at 25th and Thompson (I believe that is where it is).
Always good to do business with him too.

Anyways, I had a Ritaccino's from Rita's today; it was very good. There were no protest; however, they were handing out a letter in response to Al Alston. In it they explain in more detail what happened 8 years ago. As I suspected, the crime occurred OFF of Rita's property, and the three boys involved, while Rita's employees, were OFF the clock at the time. In their letter, the owners come across as very sincere in wanting to be a positive force in this local community (and I believe they live in the neighborhood). So, once again, Al has demonstrated just how isolated and out of the mainstream he and his pathetic little "organization" is. This should be a hot summer...hopefully Rita's will do well up here, as well as the place at 25th and Thompson, and Philly Flavors at 20th and Fairmount. They all need supporting, along with all the other small businesses in our various neighborhoods. |
