It's a great building. They used to have a pretty good crab sandwich and a bbq dish; otherwise, I never liked the food much. They had some nice wines and music, but there didn't seem to be much music last year so I haven't gone back in eons. Too bad it's not real fine dining....

You can never tell how good the service or food will be from one night to the next, but that's the deal you make when you go there. When the pulled pork is good it is the best around, which is why I continually roll the dice and go back. It's worth the shot, and on its worst day it is B+.
We had an event there - 40 people and they only staffed two servers for the party. They did about the best job I've ever seen, everything went off perfectly. There might as well have been 8 of them. So, if you are looking to plan an event you might want to give them a chance, they came up with a great menu at a reasonable price. |

That mad me laugh, nothing "fine" about it. The food is disgusting, on par with Urban Saloon in terms of "quality".

The problem with getting dinner (entrees as opposed to the sandwich's and apps) at Jack's is that - now that the neighborhood has many good BYO's - it seems like you are spending a fortune when getting wine with dinner. And since the quality varies so much you end of leaving feeling like a sucker half the time.
Jack's has probably been the place most effected by BYO's, you cannot get out of there without dropping a lot. And they no longer give you 25 biscuits and muffins when ordering the sandwiches, a loophole that greatly enhanced the experience. |
