Default Brewtown Coffee

I've also heard that the coffee shop at 30th and Girard is not going to happen. Any new plans for that location?

coffee shop is a no go. the owner still leasing the space for 1000/month and it is ready and zoned for a coffee shop.

Default Bread Bakery

Last I heard, Bread* is opening April 12 at 2313 Wallace Ave, that's behind the A+ gas station.

Maybe the "co-op idea" people could do it? They could have fruit and veggie pick up there as well?

I don't know of any specific plans, but I imagine the rumored location - 20th & Fairmount - refers to the two store-fronts that are being redone on the South side of Fairmount.

You may have already been well aware of that, however.

By all means, if anyone gets any info, please post it here. I'm all about seeing Fairmount Avenue becoming more and more of a main street.

I met the owner of Bread at the Fairmount Area Business Association Mixer at PNC last night (cool event by the way, FAB is doing some great stuff in the 'hood for area businesses) - she catered part of the event - her baked goods are FANTASTIC!!! Delicious beyond words.

Anyway, she explained they are opening this Friday at 23rd and Wallace and not on Fairmount because of the year and a half battle with the city for zoning etc rights.

After what I sampled last night, I urge everyone to check out BREAD and support this new biz.
