Default Calder Museum

Anyone know what's going on with this? It was announced years ago, and I've heard nothing since. I love Calder and was hoping this museums would have been done by now, as it was announced while I was still in college, years ago.

Is it dead, or are the fundraising efforts along the Parkway all directed at the "Triumph on the Mount" and the Barnes move at the moment?

It died because the Calder family wouldn't lease the art to the museum long term.

However, there was a rumbling or two that Rendell hoped he could revive the effort not that long ago.

I thought the Calders were the one who wanted to build a museum in the first place.

There was a beef between the family and the City when someone dropped the ball on the project. Family got pissed and took its mobile back. The stabiles and the cop-in-a-box to watch them stayed behind.

They did.

They also didn't want to lease the art to the museum for the standard term of 75 years.

I don't think they thought the whole proposition through all the way.

If you want to build an art museum, you have to put art in it.
