Every single high end retailer will tell you plasma is the best for picture quality. I tend to agree. I didn't buy a TV to carry around on my back or play games on. I'm sure LCD will surpass and make plasma obsolete, but it will take at least 5 more years.... till then I will enjoy my plasma

If I had windows behind my TV I would deal with the grey blacks and go LCD....bc the glass plasma screen does act like a tube and reflect everything.

Best TV ?
My Grandfather's Zenith.
We threw it out in 2004 when we arrived in Philly.
The thing weighed about 100 pounds and was a console TV.

I believe he bought it about 38 years ago.
That thing never dimmed, flickered ar misaligned.

When we bought our house it had a Plasma and an LCD bolted to the walls (Plasma in the family room LCD over the bath tub).

So we took the TV, put it on our front stoop, plugged it in, turned it on to a station and went outside.

15 minutes later it was gone. Didn't hear a thing.
Nice pickup service we have in fairmount. I can put out anything of value and it gets picked up in 20 minutes.

Yeah I have the slightly new RCA model of that tv still my basement. My wife has wanted me to toss it for like 3 years. I always say that no one will help me hoist it out of the basement on trash night, but really I don't want to get rid of my TV furniture I'm sure it will be needed for an episode of Antiques Roadshow 2067.

I should at least plug the old no grounded plug in and make sure she still fires up after the past 3 years in the basement, but why bother we all know she will. I even have the RF modulator so I can play the videogames and dvds and such on her.

Damn! And I was happy when the previous owners of my house left the washer and dryer.

Default Flat Panel Reviews

We bought a 26" Sharp Aquos LCD for the bedroom 2.5 years ago. Mostly for gaming and dvd movies. great picture and good sound when we hooked up a Klipsch 2.1 set to it.

We have a 50" Panasonic Plasma in the living room (the 720 series from about 2 years ago). The ONLY issue we had at that time was giving it a proper "break in" time to prevent image retention from the video games. We run an XBox360 on there several hours per week and initially static icons in the corners would remain for several minutes after the game/TV was off. Fortunately there was no permanent burn-in.

We were out recently and saw a newer Samsung paired with a Blu-ray player and they were running a demo of an enhanced image feature. It made regular movies almost live video-like. I had a techie wet-dream right there and then. It's on the short list when the Aquos is replaced in a few years.
