I hear they steal dogs around here.

But seriously, I love the neighborhood. We bought about a block from you and I have never regretted moving into the neighborhood.

Bummer. I was really looking forward to that shop opening. Sigh. I guess it's off to the Flying Saucer to work (Mug Shots won't let you sit a table for more than 45 minutes...silly).

the value in housing north of girard has increased by in some cases by 300% over the last 3 years.

I think if you payed more attention, I was refering to the buildings that are defying gravity and lack doors and windows, not the ones that are more live-able. If you are going to quote me, then get it right and don't take it out of context. That doesn't help anyone.

yo, put a leash on it son. there is no conspiracy here. those buildings that you say are defying gravity are being rehabed. look at girard between 29th and 31st. many of them used to be just facades.

Not the ones I'm refering to, if those are being rehabed, then some one needs sacking.

Neat, I'm at 29th and stiles. Haven't had a problem, but my roommate's car was broken into a few months ago. A cheap pioneer cd player was stolen, along with 62 cents in change. At the same time, all of the cars present on the block were broken into as well. We're not concerned since this appears to be random, and we've experienced this problem around 25th and brown where we used to live.

Also, as the weather warms up, the locals usually hang out outside on the stoop with the entire family. I feel this makes a safer environment because of the **** ton of people out and about on every block. Just something I noticed riding my bike around btown last summer.

I've lived on 30th just south of Girard for the last two years, and I love the neighborhood. We've gotten to know our neighbors and it's hectic sometimes in the summer, but friendly. As the guy who works in the seafood restaurant over at 27th & Girard said, "it's a real melting pot." I bike, walk, or take the bus to downtown and though my car has been broken into a couple of times I don't leave anything in it.

Of course, the worst thing that happened was a week after we moved in, they found a dead body in an abandoned house around the corner, set on fire.

Damn shame about the coffee shop. It was an ideal location.
