Default Loco to eat at Loca??

I have heard of some 'not so pleasant' experiences from people about LOCA. I am getting together with about 15 co-workers for dinner and I am in charge of picking the place in Fairmount. I would like to try this place but have heard of a few disturbing stories/comments about everything from the food to the service. Can I get some opinions?
I heard great things about Trio and Figs so maybe I should just go there.

Default You ARE LOCO TO EAT AT LOCA

Loca has the worst service of any restaurant we have ever been to, the staff is rude, the service slow, the food just ok. We had a large table of people and they forgot to bring our salads until after the main course. Another time I went with my husband and they made us sit in a table near the window, even though it was freezing and the restaurant was empty. Definitely pick Figs, the service and food are great.

I always had good experiences at L'Oca, but it is small and I don't think 15 people would be comfortable.

Default Def worth a visit

Not sure what experiences others are drawing on but my wife and I went to Loca about 1 month ago and found the service to be fin; service has def improved since they first opened, and the food to be above average.

As others point out, 15 may be tight but worth a call.

Good luck!

There is so much talk about L'oca on this blog but nothing about Trio. It is located at 27th and Brown. Very good food, great service, BYOB. They even have a even room on the third floor. I assume you can use that space for a big group. Give it a try. I never had bad food there.

I was part of a party of about 35 that rented out L'oca. They were very nice to us. The food was pretty good, too.

That said, I prefer Figs any day, because they really strive to take good care of you, and the warmth of the servers makes me feel so at home. The chef came out to talk to us one night to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, chatted with us for a few minutes, and then went on his way. The food has always been excellent, too.
