I think it's great that they are taking reservations now. I made a ressie for 8 ppl on Saturday night, almost all out-of-towners, and I have no qualms about bringing them to L'oca. And I am VERY picky about where I take visitors after a few bad experiences (not in the neighborhood, but in the greater center city area.)
Since L'oca reopened after their summer break last year around Labor Day, the service has been fantastic. And the food has always been great, IMHO. That being said, I also enjoy the food and atmosphere at Trio, Figs, and even Angelinos but Angelinos is not in the same league as L'oca, as the PP mentioned. |

Not sure about Loca or Trio, but I wouldn't even consider Figs. The food and service is excellent, but its very compact and quiet and not the place to take a large group.
Angelino's certainly could accomodate 15 better, the service is friendly enough, but nothing special. The food, however, is average, I could do better myself.

i never said angelino's was gourmet and of course the food is different than loca, but i've taken friends there before for casual dining and i've never been disappointed with the service or food. i think they are a lovely addition to this neighborhood and i love the pizza!

We ate at L'Oca last week, and the food was even better than I remembered. Gnochatelli and braised rabbit
![]() Service could have been a bit more attentive, but once we signaled our needs to the owner/maitre d' the wait staff got back on the ball pretty quickly. |

Just went back to Trio the other night for the first time in a while (based on the glowing recommendations here) and we were pleasantly surprised. Much better than the last few times we went. The Pad Thai was great as was the baked salmon (a little over cooked, but still very good). I would say the quality is not quite as good as l'Oca, but close. Very different cuisine, so a nice option. We will certainly go back again, sooner rather than later this time.
