I am moving from out of town and I saw an apt for rent at the above address.

Can anyone tell me about the area? Safety is my #1 concern.

don't move there if safety is your #1 concern. It's a fringe location. to be sure, ther are some beautiful properties up there but, if I remember correctly, you are from OK. Don't do it. I'd consider speculating on properties up there (for the right price) but not moving there with no knowledge of the area.

I couldn't recommend that area. That would be the extreme northern fringe of Fairmount. Girard College is beautiful and there are many great houses in this area but 4 or 5 blocks away things start to really fall apart. My advice would be to stay away from this area.

Good luck

Does anyone know of any places for rent in Fairmont? Or who I would get in contact with about finding a place. I search craigslist daily and check p.w. every wed.
It's kind of hit or miss.
Thanks for being honest about the area. It's a really nice place but I don't need anymore culture shock than what I am about to recieve.

Great area! 100x better than 200x Girard.

I will second the 20th + Spring Garden, thats a nice area. Theres a whole bunch of condos in this area and another big condo development underway right now. You could walk to center city, all the museums,Kelly drive. There is a police station right down the street, supermarket and plenty of bars within walking distance.

This was in todays philadelphia daily news. doesn't give an exact address but its in the Fairmount area.

The only challenge will be finding a parking spot, it fills up super fast on the street. Depending on where your husband will find work, you are about 5 blocks from the subway, but easy bus access.
