New houses that are about to be built at 16th and Green are being advertised as being in the "Art Museum area". The houses are going to start at 600K.

That term, "Art Museum area," is just vague enough to be useful to developers and realtors. Anything from Broad and Callowhill to 31st and Girard could theoretically be called "Art Museum area." That's why I prefer the actual neighborhood appellations - Fairmount, Spring Garden, Logan Circle, Francisville, Brewerytown.

Glad to hear, though, that there's new construction down there. I haven't been over by 16th in a while, but it's a pretty scary corridor north of Spring Garden St.

i am a realtor, although, i am not sure that i should admit to that on a neighborhood message board. anyhoo, i would love to see the use of each individual section name brought back to life. it would make my life easier than such a broad term of the "art museum area", as each person has his/her own ideas of what that means.
also, on a recent website, i read that the fairmount area technically stretches down to the 12th and green area, near the ben franklin high school. i can't remember where i saw the map, but, i have always referred to that area as brandywine east. technically it is 19123 zip, so, i assume it could also be considered n. libs.
just some useless/useful info for you.

The term "Fairmount" is used in a lot of different contexts, so it can be kind of confusing. The neighborhood of Fairmount is 20th to the Park, Poplar to Fairmount Ave.

Default 29th Street at Parish

7th May 05

If anyone out there is familar with 29th Street and Parish, it is the old brewery town.

There is a project at 844 29th Street that is going to be sold shortly.

Any opinion on the area. The units are prices at about $309,000 plus about $25,000 for parking. Nice units.

please let me know.

Thanks

Default Strawberry Mansion...where is it?

Quick question, I kind of have a clue where Brewerytown is...but where is Strawberry Mansion??? I keep hearing people talk about this neighborhood. I would just like to know where the hell it is! What streets does it start and end with.

Merkin,

I'm curious. Where did you find the maps? They look like they would be interesting to explore.

Thanks!
