I saw them from 76 late last night (there weren't any "effects" happening at that moment, so I don't have a clear mental picture of what color changes might be like). They looked "colder" to me than the old lights. And my friend (who was driving, so he didn't look as long) said he thought they looked a little like the outline drawings on an old early 80s video game. They just looked more uniform and less charming somehow. But, whatever the case, it's nice to see the boathouses lit again -- I missed them!

From the video I saw, it looks like the "white" has a bluish tint to it. This is because LEDs cannot produce a true white.

As for the uniformity. That was the one concern I had when they announced the "upgrade". The lights appear to be spaced too closely together which change the old effect from charming to dive-bar rope light.

I will reserve my final judgement until I actually see them in person.

They do look a little bluish-green. And they are closer together. I wish they'd tried to approximate the old lights a little more. Oh, well.

Geez, you people complain to much. They look way better and they will definitely stand out more because they can change the color. I agree with Professor Dave, change is good.
