That's nothing...the Walgreens by the Gallery has locked cases for almost everything...body wash, lotions, certain braids of products (neutorgena and other higher priced items), deodarant, razors and razor refill packs...it really is such a pain in the ass. Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that I was in the meds section and noticed that Abreva and some other lip stuff had freakin locks on them...SOOO ridiculous...but hey, it's the Walgreens by the Gallery, so I'm not surprised.

I used to live up the street from the Rite Aid at 9th & Catherine. There was this cashier who was such a stereotypically crabby old lady, she could have been the basis of a tv sitcom. And, she was ALWAYS smoking...yes, IN the store, while she rang people up at the register. Like, she would dangle the cig from her mouth while she scanned and bagged your purchases.

Once you got past the shock of seeing her do that, it was kind of funny. I used to imagine that the store manager was probably too afraid of her to make her stop.

So, one day, a young guy (mid-20s maybe) was in front of me in line. Apparently, this was his first encounter with this woman. He says something like, "those will kill you", but in a sarcastic way that made it super obvious that he was put off by her smoking while ringing him up. (Which was understandable for sure.)

He said it right as she was handing him his change. She yells after him as he is walking out of the store. She said something like, "You should talk...all you pot-smoking kids!". Then she grumbled to me about "stupid kids" the entire time she was ringing me up (I was about 22 at the time), cig dangling from her mouth.

I could barely keep a straight face while I ran out of the Rite Aid!

Yes! The Rite Aid Smokey is one of my all-time faves. Apparently she has since been canned for doing stuff like just grabbing soda and snacks without paying for them.

She would also become enraged, enraged, if you bought a pack of gum or something on debit in order to get cash back (minus whatever ridiculous fees the area ATM charged). I was always waiting for her to refuse to ring up the sale.

Really...they fired her for eating things she didn't pay for? Considering that they put up with her (particularly her chain smoking) for so long, that surprises me. I always assumed she would be a lifer!

Blah blah blah, if you are not home for the delivery then it's just a pain. CVS is far from perfect, but much easier than sitting at home waiting.....
