I've lived in Philly or the burbs my whole life (38 years) but Fairmount for only the last two. I remember going to the North Star a lot in the early 1990s and being pretty scared walking to my car after a concert. Even though it's still a little dicey to be up there at 1am on a Saturday night, I feel way more comfortable around there now than I did 15 years ago.

Both my wife and I are third generation Fairmounters...When we got married we moved out of the neighborhood for 6 years and then made a conscious move back to Fairmount to raise our kids... It was a great decision...

Relative newbies, my wife & I. We've been in Philly for 16 years, Fairmount for 9 of them.

Born in Lancaster. Lived in Collegeville 3 years, NYC 2, West Chester 1, now here for over a year. Just wish there was someplace a single guy could afford to by!

Here since 1979. Still feel like a newbie. Raised on Woodland Terrace in University City( Dad taught law at Penn.) Prior to buying my own house here, I lived in Parkway Apts (what a joy.. NOT), couple of places in NJ, and some place between King of Prussia and Malvern, near Rt 202, whose name I no longer can remember.

Neighbors on both sides have been here "forever". One bought her house for either $6 or 8K, to give you an idea.

Computers? Been using them since 1965.
