Homeless Man in Fairmount Cause of Visual Distress

INQUIRER STAFF REPORTS

It's sunny today, and that means one thing for those who live closest to Fairmount Park: fun in the sun.

But that fun was cut short Friday afternoon when local resident Dorothy Abernathy was walking Chandra, her pet shih-tzu.

"I couldn't believe it. I've seen homeless all over the area before, but few times do I ever see one completely butt naked out here in the grass."

Dorothy saw Maurice Wilkes, 32, of Glassboro, New Jersey lying in flagrante delicto on the open banks of the Schuylkill River a short walk from the Stone Bridge. Dorothy called 9-1-1 from her cell phone, but it was hours before police arrived to collect Mr. Wilkes.

"He must have been there at least 4 hours," said Cpt. Jamal Archer, who arrived after numerous calls from Fairmount residents was made.

Why did it take so long for police to arrive?

"Well, it's hard to explain why the residents kept insisting to do something about the shadow. When I arrived to pick up Mr. Wilkes, he was lying down on his back and appeared to be asleep. I didn't see the shadow they were talking about, and even pointing at."

Other observers who live nearby also complained about the shadow cast by Mr. Wilkes's figure.

"I don't understand what they meant by his shadow. He did have a full erection when I asked him to get up off the ground."

And this is why you should donate to PACCA, not PETA:

In September, PETA made headlines in Vermont and across the nation for asking
Ben & Jerry's ice cream to use human breast milk in their ice cream, instead of cow milk

Kitty's Chop Suey. It's a real place. I used to pass it about once per week.
