Right now, the "moving forward" process is small, so we can set up the bones of the group and make it easy for people to join in. Our projects for now are to make a website and to make a guide to the neighborhood (maps of the neighborhood, bus routes, recycling days, etc). That's it for now, because that's what five people can handle. Once we have a website, we'll post the website info here and all over the neighborhood so lots more people can get involved. Right now, though, the things to be done have been small and manageable enough that they've been able to be handled by the folks who have pm'd me. Because we don't have anything to show yet, posting about nothing seemed premature, but that's the update for now.
Is springgardencivicassociation.org the one you're talking about?

Might I suggest making a "wiki" instead of a static site? this would allow more participation and make it easier to post updates, etc. I've used http://sites.google.com for something like this in other groups and while not perfect, it's still pretty useful.

Does SGCA have bylaws or anything like that?

Yes, there are bylaws but nobody except the board knows what they say.

I understand that things need to be built up incrementally. That's fine. Just keep us informed. I personally don't think we need to re-invent the wheel - just make it a more representative process that really involves people to get things done.

The Old City association has a magnificent flyer/hand-out that has all kinds of information like who to call for city issues etc etc. It's so helpful and informative. If at least this kind of info could be added to a website it would be a great resource. At the same time if info about how the SGCA works, who does what etc could be added, that too could be an excellent resource.

Keep up the good work!

If there are bylaws, I hope we can post them on the website. If not, I hope we can write some!

We're definitely looking to get as much useful information onto the website as possible, exactly along the lines of what you've listed, Titus. Any and all suggestions of what kind of useful information you'd want on a website/neighborhood guide would be great, because I'm the one putting a lot of that together.

So what was the meeting with Pat like? Are you trying to make the existing Civic Association more "accessible"? Or trying to start a separate one? What is Pat's reaction to your efforts?

Is your website the one that a link was provided to before (http://www.springgardencivicassociation.org)? Or are you planning to do something different?
